New at ACPEQ: a support group for parents of teenagers!
On August 20th, a first Zoom meeting took place between parents of teenagers who are members of ACPEQ. The objectives of this meeting were as follows:
- Objective 1 : To facilitate the meeting and socialization of ACPEQ teens with each other, through different means.
- Objective 2 : To offer a support group to parents of adolescents so that they can share their resources, support and encourage each other.
- Objective 3 : To encourage parents of adolescents to get involved, organize activities, share their ideas.
Following this meeting, a new ACPEQ Parents of Teens Facebook Support Groupwas created to provide a practical means of communication for organizing activities for teens in different regions of Quebec. Do not hesitate to come and request to be added to the group.
ATeens Corner has also been created on the website, in order to place information on the activities organized and the people to contact to register.
A great first activity!
"We had 8 families represented with 17 participants! I think everyone really liked it! These kinds of meetings are exactly what we needed as a family." Joanne Fontaine (organizer and participant)
The first activity took place on Wednesday, September 23rd, at the Huron Village of Wendake, in the Quebec City area. Of course, some travelled a greater distance than others to attend, but it gave our teenagers the opportunity to break the ice and get to know each other.
