Dear ACPEQ members and friends,
Some of you have expressed discomfort with the DEM’s approach in regard to the contents of portfolios. A DEM document and DEM resource people appear to be demanding content that is not explicitly required in either the law or the regulation. What is not a legal obligation can not be required.
ACPEQ’s approach is that the content is the parent’s choice. In our opinion, one cannot demand anything, let alone impose that a video or other reflective response of a child be included, for example.
Please notify us of any situation or request that you find ambiguous or unreasonable. We will keep your information confidential. We have formed a group of four (4) people who will meet with the director of the DEM next Wednesday, February 6. We ask for your prayers. We will report our impressions and conclusions of the outcome of this meeting.

ACPEQ is composed of dedicated volunteers who generously invest their time and talents to advance and support the cause of homeschooling.
A large number of volunteer families within ACPEQ is essential to enable us to offer the services that support homeschooling, improve support for members, and create a welcoming atmosphere in our association. A wide volunteer base is what will permit us to influence the next generation of homeschooling families. Be involved – become an ACPEQ volunteer.
