Trusting God’s plan!

How often, in our journey as parent-educators, do we get anxious when we think about our children’s future, become stressed when we think about our various obligations, and let ourselves get carried away by the storm of difficulties and constraints?

It’s easy to form a very specific vision of what we want to do for our children as they grow up, to make plans to acquire this or that possession, or to act without putting things into perspective.

When our plans take a long time to come to fruition, or when events don’t unfold as planned – for example, when a young person fails several exams despite having planned to go on to post-secondary education – we can feel helpless.

Sometimes it’s hard to really trust God, to hand everything over to him… Worries weigh us down and we obsess over them. And yet, our worries are often counter-productive or useless, because after all, we have little power over what happens! In all cases, we must turn to the Lord, again and again, for guidance through prayer. He knows what’s good for us!

God has His plan…

“Mortals make elaborate plans, but God has the last word.” (Proverbs 16:1, MSG)

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans […] Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord.” (Proverbs 16:3, 20b, NIV)
