Dear members,
I am pleased to report that more than 70 people participated in an informative and edifying day on November 3. As expected, the representatives from the Ministry, Mr. Christian Rousseau and Mrs. Caroline Kelly, generously contributed to the success of our day. They answered many questions to the best of their ability and knowledge for over 75 minutes during a directed interview as well as responding to questions from the floor. They also remained for the meal and discussed more informally with the participants. Certainly, we can say that although they could not answer all of our questions, they were very reassuring. They showed themselves to be very willing to assist and support families who educate at home. Together we are treading new paths.
The invited speaker, Mr. Lorne Robinson, touched our hearts with his messages which instilled in us the importance of our roles as influencers, not just with our own children, but in all the areas where God has allowed us to grow professionally and socially. His real-life anecdotal illustrations showed us how God desires to use us and can use us in a multitude of ways.
We also shared information about the progress of the work that different groups and homeschooling associations are making in order to be able to provide appropriate and acceptable suggestions to the Advisory Board for the writing of the Good Practices Guide that is expected to be adopted by the Ministry on July 1, 2019.
Furthermore, our president has put out a call for more dedicated volunteers. I would, therefore, encourage you to consider becoming involved in taking up some of the diverse leadership responsibilities and letting us know: whether it be with a support group, a sub-committee for the Advisory Board, or even a more immediate concern, as part of the organizing of the annual conference. We need a leader for each of the following programs: the children’s program, the vendor hall and the volunteer management. You want to be part of the succession, please fill out a volunteer form. If you want more information, do not hesitate to contact acpeq@acpeq.org.
I would like to mention that the president, Ivan Cyr, and myself have co-signed congratulatory letters to our new Premier, Mr. François Legault and the new Minister of Education and Higher Education, Mr. Jean-François Roberge. We offered them our full and complete collaboration with the goal of making homeschooling a success in Quebec as well as a model for other provinces and states to emulate.
Lastly, I invite you to keep us informed of the interventions of the resource person assigned by the Ministry, especially in a situation where the requests seem to be above/beyond what is required by law or in the regulation.
I leave you with a Bible passage which reassures us that the decision that we have made to home educate our children is among the best choices that we can make for our children: “Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Deuteronomy 11:18-19 (NIV)
Blessings,

ACPEQ is composed of dedicated volunteers who generously invest their time and talents to advance and support the cause of homeschooling.
A large number of volunteer families within ACPEQ is essential to enable us to offer the services that support homeschooling, improve support for members, and create a welcoming atmosphere in our association. A wide volunteer base is what will permit us to influence the next generation of homeschooling families. Be involved – become an ACPEQ volunteer.
